Turquoise Turquoise is a blue-to-green mineral found in copper-bearing areas.
This stone is from Kingman, Arizona where the Colbaugh family has been involved with the Kingman Mine for four generations. They produce turquoise, azurite, and coral stones. The reputation of Colbaugh's world-class quality work has traveled throughout the world.
The Colbaugh family developed a stabilization process that brings out the natural color of turquoise, while giving it sufficient hardness and strength to survive lapidary treatment. Turquoise nuggets are thoroughly dried by intense and prolonged heating that removes water molecules.
Placed in a vacuum, the rock is then infused with materials -- in this case bronze -- that penetrates the stone and forms a beautiful matrix.
